Hi -
First thing I would say is that today's most popular MMO's require
pretty substantial computing power. The newest ones like Warhammer and
Age of Conan require at least a mid range Core2 Duo (like 2.66Ghz or
better), 2 GB's or Ram (or better), and a high end graphics card with at
least 512MB of onboard ram. World of Warcraft is the most popular MMO
right now and it can still be played on a slower system, but even it
needs at least a 3Ghz cpu, 1GB ram, and a good 512MB vid card to be
enjoyable. And of course you need a broadband internet connection.
There are lots of older MMO's (and computer games in general) that have
lesser requirements, but for the newest most popular ones you need a
fast PC.
I'm just mentioning the above because you say you have an HP, and
generally HP's are not particularly upgradeable. You can probably
upgrade your RAM to whatever the motherboard's maximum is. Maybe you
can upgrade to a better video card - depending on the availability of an
empty slot (PCI Express slot would be best, but there are still a few
decent AGP cards available). But, probably, you'll need a new
motherboard in order to get a fast processor - and I pretty certain HP's
mobo's are proprietary and can't be upgraded.
You need to go to HP's support site and get the manual for your model to
see its specs and how upgradeable it is. Or post the model here and we
can check it. So, really, that's the fist place to start with an upgrade.
Good luck,
Donk
