If you're downloading it from the Yahoo website you might be having a prob with the installer. Their website downloads a small .exe file that will then automatically open and begin downloading and installing at the same time. You could try just downloading the entire file, and then clicking the file to begin installation. You can get the file here: http://www.filehippo.com/download_yahoo_messenger/download/ae5802426a2721992104febeee480b4c/ Be sure to click the "download latest version" link at the top of the page to get version 9 (instead of an older version).

Try reducing the security settings in the browser you are using and/or temporarily disabling your anti-virus apps.
