It may be tricky to know where you are on the computer without a 
monitor, but you can connect one to the monitor output connector, most 
laptops have them. The easiest way I have found to rescue data from 
one machine is to copy it to an external hard drive. If you don't have 
one there are USB cables designed to work between two computers. I 
have never owned one so I can't give you any details on a description.
