Almost every email client offers a way to set filters to catch emails.
You can set them to catch a variety of aspects of an email - such as
'sender', 'containing a certain wore or phrase', 'subject', etc.
Just look in the menus of whatever email program you are using for
"filters", or "rules (in Outlook). It's pretty self-explanatory how to
set them.
Some web-based email clients might require that you pay for an
"enhanced" version of their service in order to use filters. I think
Yahoo! mail only allows 15 free filters (which is really plenty for most
people). Gmail filters are free. Not sure about MSN Hotmail.

You can use filters to delete emails before you see them - or you can
have certain messages filtered into folders to organize them.

One thing to be careful about... sometimes when you make a filter to
delete messages containing a certain word - that very word will appear
in a message you "do" want to receive. But of course the filter will
auto-delete your message.
Repost with your specific email client if you need more info on how to
set them up.
Good luck,
Donk
