Maybe if we defined "internal" versus "external" speakers we could have
a coherent discussion.

Most desktop computers have a small speaker usually built-in to the
motherboard. This speaker is usually intended to convey the "beeps" we
hear when booting up or when an error occurs during boot-up.

Some desktops have "internal" speakers that are connected to the sound
card and will allow us to hear audio from multimedia sources. In some
cases these speakers also will provide the "beeps" from the motherboard.

External speakers are usually powered by and external source (AC or
battery) and plug in to the sound card jack. These speakers allow us to
hear audio from multimedia sources.

Given these "definitions", I would surmise external speakers would
probably provide better sound quality then internal speakers. However,
I would also guess that a $10 set of external speakers would not be as
good as a $200 set of custom designed internal speakers.

Since I am hearing-impaired, just about any set of speakers will work
for me. However, for those of you with good hearing, the best bet is to
decide how much money you want to spend and then get a sound card and
speakers that will satisfy both your budget and your eardrums.

Have we beat this subject to death yet??
