I don't think a person would try to trick you by sometimes personally chatting, and sometimes using a chatbot. Why would they do that? I mean, there "are" chatbots on the IM's, but they are mainly used for spamming and advertising. These are probably all automated - no human chatting at all. Chatbots aren't all that smart so it shouldn't be hard to find out if the person your chatting with is a bot - just ask questions to trick it. But I guess the bottom line is that if you are chatting with someone you aren't sure about - and feel weird about it (which you seem to) - I would STOP chatting with that person right away and make some new friends. It could be someone trying to trick you into doing something you shouldn't do. There are all kinds of creepy people online these days.
