Ask.com is adware, but I think it should give you the option to 
uninstall it.  Have you tried looking for it under Start, Control Panel, 
Add/Remove Programs (I dunno which version of windows you have so can't 
give exact directions).  But you should see Ask.com listed under there - 
just choose to uninstall it.
Also, the toolbar might have changed your default search engine to 
Ask.com?  If you go into your IE settings - usually under Tools, 
Internet Options depending on version - you can set your homepage, and 
set your default search engine, and look for an option to "Manage Add 
Ons" to see if Ask.com is listed there.

Whenever you download and install a program, be sure to read all the 
windows that appear during the install.  Usually they'll ask if you want 
to install a toolbar or not.
