Most notebook optical drives will be interchangeable, but the bezels 
that go on the front of the drawer are ALL different. So, your dell 
drive "might" fit into the Sony, but the bezel will likely not fit.  You 
can remove the bezel and use the drive without it, or there's a chance 
the bezel might "sorta" fit (if not perfectly).  If both devices are 
less than 4 or 5 years old the drive should fit into the Sony and work.  
At least that's what I "think", but I can't guarantee it.
