Hi Krishna - It's not uncommon for sound card drivers to get corrupted and need to be re-installed. But from your description of "crackling sound" it sounds like maybe your speakers have gone bad? Is there any way you can disconnect the speaker jack from the back of your computer and plug it into another device - such as an mp3 player, ipod, cell phone, CD player, etc. and see if you can hear the sound clearly - and if the crackling is still there?
The normal first step to try to fix computer sound is to reinstall the sound card drivers.... 1. Go to Start, Run, and type DEVMGMT.MSC into the open box. 2. This opens Device Manager. Double click the category called "Sound, Video and Game Controllers". 3. Find the driver for your sound card. It will be the entry with a brand name such as Realtek, Audigy, SBlaster, or similar. It's not the entries with "legacy", or "codecs". 4. When you find the right driver right-click on it and choose "Uninstall" from the popup menu. Click OK. 5. Now shut down the computer and reboot. 6. As it reboots you'll see a message like "Windows has found new hardware and will install the drivers for it". Give it a few minutes to finish booting. Don't do anything until you see the message "Your new hardware is installed and ready to use". Hopefully that will fix the sound, but as I said, it might be a problem with your speakers - not the computer. Repost is necessary.
