I don't mess with Apple stuff, but for Android there are good free apps 
in the play store you can try.  Just go to the play store on your phone 
and search for "anti virus".  A very popular one is "Lookout Security & 
Antivirus".  All the anti-virus apps do use some resources and data 
space, but unless your phone is already near to being maxed out on space 
or resources, you won't even notice these apps are there.

That said... worrying about infections on Android devices is really not 
very necessary.  Malware writers haven't really targeted mobile device 
much - at least not yet.  I don't run AV on my mobil devices at all.  
Unless you install a lot of 3rd party apps you should be fine - just get 
all your apps from the Play Store.
