WEP KEY is the Wireless Encryption Product Code that would be printed on the
label of the Modem that you use.

Hi Janice - It's not easy to figure this out without having your printer
in front of me. The wireless printers I've installed all have a screen
and when you turn them on they'll list all the available networks - you
just choose yours, enter the password, and boom they are online.
You shouldn't have to mess with the WEP key. No, it is not your network
password, it's the key for your router's security encryption.
I think the manual instructions are trying to get you to figure out your
printer's IP address, and then enter that IP address into your printer's
wireless settings. It's pretty confusing but maybe this will help:
********* Here's the part to tell your printer you want it to work on a
wireless network:
1.Connect the wireless product to the computer through a USB cable.
2.Click the Start button, and then click the Programs or All Programs menu item.
3.Click the HP menu item, and then click the HP LaserJet Professional P1100
Printer series menu item.
4.Click the Wireless Configuration menu item.
5.Follow the onscreen instructions to configure the product to print on a
wireless network.
******** Here's the part to reset any of the printer's wireless settings to the
default (to start over):
1.Turn the product off.
2.Press and hold the wireless button and the cancel button, and then turn the
product on.
3. Hold the buttons until all the lights blink in unison, and then release the
buttons.
******** Here's how to find the printer's IP address:
1.Print a configuration page, and locate the IP address.
To print a config page, make sure the green ready light is steady on. Now hold
down the Cancel button until the Ready light starts flashing - now release the
Cancel button and the page should print. Find the IP address on the printout
(you're prob using IPv4).
If you are using IPv4, the IP address contains only digits. It has this
format:xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
If you are using IPv6, the IP address is a hexadecimal combination of
characters and digits. It has a format similar to this:
xxxx::xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx
********* Here's how to open the printer's embedded web server and connect it
to your network:
1. Your printer has it's own setup utility. You access it by opening a web
browser (not sure it'll work with Google Chrome), and simply typing the
Printer's IP address (which you got from the printout) into the browsers
address bar. NOT the search window - the actual URL address bar.
2. Once the server window opens click the Networking tab. I'm not sure what
you'll see there, but prob you'll see a list of available wireless networks.
Just choose yours and enter its password. Hopefully that'll get the printer
back on your network.
