My MS Word 2002 (and office 2002) works fine under win7 (and I would
assume win8). Photoshop 7.0 works fine too - but I don't use any
plug-ins, so can't vouch for them.
The old games and stuff are a crap shoot - you won't know till you try -
unless you can find someone on google who's already tried it.
Yeah, dual booting is a hassle, but if there's an app you absolutely
"must" have... that's a way to keep it. 1TB is waaaay more than enough
to dual boot!
You can always get a touch monitor when your current ones die. They're a
bit hard to find right now, but soon they'll be all over the place and
cheap. That tile thing you see in Win8 is really optional - there's a
fairly normal desktop right underneath it. But touch isn't only for the
tiles... it's for all facets of computing.
Since you do a lot of graphics stuff... ask your guy about the onboard
video chip on the Gigabyte MB. You'll prob be fine with the extra ram
and an i5, but a good graphics card has it's own processor and would be
super fast. Plus, if you work in really high resolutions, be sure the
onboard vid will support those.
Here's hoping every single thing you have will run under win8! (ha, as
if). :-)
