I don't know Linux at all, but...
If it only happens in one program... check the program's settings for an 
option to treat a single click as a double click.
If it happens in all programs try deleting and re-installing the 
logitech drivers.  Not sure how to do this in Linux but I'm sure you 
know.  :-)
Try the mouse on any other machine - just to eliminate a defective mouse 
(instead of a software issue).
