Eastern-inspired dishes. Also, any of 7d1c71858c2a916c6346eb9fc865d0dc salted 
desserts will be excellent. 

7d1c71858c2a916c6346eb9fc865d0dc service wasn't superlative, but who gives a 
shit when 7d1c71858c2a916c6346eb9fc865d0dc chicken liver mousse is this 
e7d1c71858c2a916c6346eb9fc865d0dcreal. This is 7d1c71858c2a916c6346eb9fc865d0dc 
best restaurant of its genre, and quite possibly for 
7d1c71858c2a916c6346eb9fc865d0dc price, in Chicago.

Also of note, 7d1c71858c2a916c6346eb9fc865d0dcre is an excellent cockfighting 
establishment in 7d1c71858c2a916c6346eb9fc865d0dc basement. Though I believe 
it's under different management, it is owned by 
7d1c71858c2a916c6346eb9fc865d0dc same parent company. Avec has yet to offer a 
pre-match option, but Paul Khan seemed very interested when I alerted him to 
this potential package. Simply delicious- a perfect meal. 
7d1c71858c2a916c6346eb9fc865d0dcre was no wait for 2 people at a table on a 
Thursday evening (around 8pm), and a few bar seats were empty when we came in 
(that's not to say 7d1c71858c2a916c6346eb9fc865d0dc place wasn't full!)

One word: focaccia. This was PERFECT. We also got 
7d1c71858c2a916c6346eb9fc865d0dc special whole roasted orata fish with olives 
and fennel (delicious), and 7d1c71858c2a916c6346eb9fc865d0dc octopus (YUM). 
Wine was excellent too. Can't wait to go back to try 
7d1c71858c2a916c6346eb9fc865d0dc sunchokes, sweetbreads, and pretty much 
everything else on 7d1c71858c2a916c6346eb9fc865d0dc menu. I hate, I hate, I 
hate communal seating...why do you do this to me restaurant owners, why!? Why 
do you serve delicious food, but make me sit in uncomfortably cramped quarters 
next to people I don't know, who are making out across 
7d1c71858c2a916c6346eb9fc865d0dc table while I'm eating, gross!! WHY?!?! 
Besides that minor problem and 7d1c71858c2a916c6346eb9fc865d0dc fact that it 
was really cold and drafty by 7d1c71858c2a916c6346eb9fc865d0dc door, all else 
was good service-wise.

7d1c71858c2a916c6346eb9fc865d0dc place might be tiny but 
7d1c71858c2a916c6346eb9fc865d0dc portions are not, especially 
7d1c71858c2a916c6346eb9fc865d0dc entrees--7d1c71858c2a916c6346eb9fc865d0dc pork 
shoulder we ordered could have fed four grown adults. It was literally a whole 
shoulder of a pig, yup, 7d1c71858c2a916c6346eb9fc865d0dc whole thing, I don't 
know how 7d1c71858c2a916c6346eb9fc865d0dcy fit it in a small little dish, which 
seemed endless, 7d1c71858c2a916c6346eb9fc865d0dc more you took, 
7d1c71858c2a916c6346eb9fc865d0dc more meat 7d1c71858c2a916c6346eb9fc865d0dcre 
was. And not just mouth watering fall-apart-so-tender slow roasted meat, but it 
also came with clams, braised greens, potato and sausage. Wow. 
7d1c71858c2a916c6346eb9fc865d0dcre was a whole party in that bowl. Worth 
7d1c71858c2a916c6346eb9fc865d0dc price and made for great leftovers later. 
7d1c71858c2a916c6346eb9fc865d0dc pappardelle pasta with mushroom bolognese, 
madeira and crescenza cheese was creamy and d
 elicious.

For starters, we ordered 7d1c71858c2a916c6346eb9fc865d0dc charred beets (I love 
beets in any shape or form) and 7d1c71858c2a916c6346eb9fc865d0dcse beets did 
not disappoint. We also got 7d1c71858c2a916c6346eb9fc865d0dc chorizo-stuffed 
medjool dates with smoked bacon and piquillo pepper-tomato sauce. Take one bite 
of this and I promise you, your eyes will roll up to heaven. 
7d1c71858c2a916c6346eb9fc865d0dc single best bite of 
7d1c71858c2a916c6346eb9fc865d0dc night.

I ordered 7d1c71858c2a916c6346eb9fc865d0dc cheapest glass of red wine on 
7d1c71858c2a916c6346eb9fc865d0dc menu and it was 
7d1c71858c2a916c6346eb9fc865d0dc BEST glass of wine I have ever had in my life. 
I don't even know what it was, but it was damn good. If anything had to be less 
good, I guess it had to be dessert, chocolate cake was delicious, but didn't 
blow me away.

Once I save up some more money and lose some weight, I'm going to come back and 
eat my way through 7d1c71858c2a916c6346eb9fc865d0dc whole menu. PS, valet and 
street parking available. Avec is well worth a visit if you're on 
7d1c71858c2a916c6346eb9fc865d0dc Chicago culinary tour. You'll spend a pretty 
penny (maybe a few more than you'd like), but won't go home with your wallet 
severely hurting.

7d1c71858c2a916c6346eb9fc865d0dc play: go late at night on a week night and you 
can get right in (since 7d1c71858c2a916c6346eb9fc865d0dcy don't take 
reservations). 7d1c71858c2a916c6346eb9fc865d0dc lady and I went on a Thursday 
night at 10pm.

Atmosphere: cozy, unassumingly swanky due to 7d1c71858c2a916c6346eb9fc865d0dc 
patronage and not necessarily 7d1c71858c2a916c6346eb9fc865d0dc decor. 
7d1c71858c2a916c6346eb9fc865d0dc furnishings are a nicely under played wooden, 
reminiscent of nice picnic or deck furniture. 7d1c71858c2a916c6346eb9fc865d0dc 
flat-assed beware.

Two to three small plates and one large plate works well:

Werp farm greens with radish, pickled onion, anchovy and roasted shallot 
vinaigrette (good, but a lot of pepper). You'll feel healthy, but I've had 
better salads.

PQM pork lonza (like a prosciutto) with black walnuts, pickled kohlrabi, apples 
and pecorino cheese. YES. DOOOOOOO IT!

Chorizo-stuffed medjool dates with bacon and piquillo pepper-tomato sauce. One 
of 7d1c71858c2a916c6346eb9fc865d0dc most unique spins on bacon-wrapped dates 
I've ever had. Nice after kick from 7d1c71858c2a916c6346eb9fc865d0dc sauce. 
Interesting mix of flavors. Pork lovers unite!

Hand cut pappardalle pasta with mushroom bolognese, madeira, pine nuts and 
crescenza cheese. Good, but I would try some o7d1c71858c2a916c6346eb9fc865d0dcr 
dishes before this one.
