We had the same discussion over at airprobe.org and came to the conclusion that the goal can be reached by building a non-realtime single-channel decoding and decryption system. A convincing, reliably reproducable proof of concept should be the goal, not an actual interception tool that gets us into conflict with all sorts of laws and interests. What people then do further with the results is a different problem, but not one of the project.
