Strictly speaking, these are the numbers for the ATI tables. I suppose
Sebastian is working on the older nvidia tables, with longer and fewer
chains.

However, progress on the ATI tables have been so good, that I wouldn't
advice anyone to start on new nvidia tables. In fact we have som many
tables now, that it is time to start working on a more serious cracker.

To do so, I have upgraded my machine:

The key addition is that I have 5x1TB disks - and I will organize them
in a software RAID0 stripe - to maximize random reads needed for lookup.

Bigger stripes would be better, but I am trying to operate within a
limited budget, which is an important point to make. The attack we have
now mounted on A5/1 requires a fraction of the resources of any previous
published attack, and can for all intents and purposes be carried out
with just a single high end gaming computer.

cheers,
