You both seem to have made the same mistake: An A clarinet plays a
minor third *lower* than written, not higher. Middle C is about
524 beats/sec, so "C = 440" would likewise bring the pitch *down*
a minor third.
It's an easy sort of mistake to make, and abc is full of
opportunities to make them. Sort of like voting in Palm Beach
County.
