Not really an answer to the original questioner, since
he's not a Mac user, but BarFly will let you put guitar
chords above or below the staff (its a local option, and
involves no change to the abc). You can also use the
annotation format; "_text" will write "text" below the
staff. Doing it this way avoids confusing the transpose
routine, which won't treat the text as a chord.
