It's a kind of fraud Nigerian crooks specialize in; they usually do it by fax and have found no shortage of suckers in the UK in recent years. (What kind of idiot ever responds to a junk fax?) Lots of people have found their bank accounts thousands of pounds emptier as a result. Perhaps it would be worth reporting it to your local police department's fraud squad, with the original headers. (Or the FBI's internet fraud division, the address of which I have lost).
