We do NOT need three different ways of saying exactly the same thing. People used to seeing ABC written one way are going to think "what on earth is this construct?" when they encounter one of the alphabetic variants for the first time. There's no need for it. If you need "+" or "&" to appear in the staff notation, that can be a setting of the staff notation generator, to be printed when it encounters a ",". There's no reason for the tadpoles to be a direct image of the ABC. I think the deciding factor ought to be which version has already got the most use.
