>Can you translate the Breton words in the song?

I can't, unfortunatly. I don't know Breton. You could ask JF
Moine, I think he can breton, but I'm not sure.

>I knew nothing at all about. (The French state has been using
its
>colonial and minority peoples as cannon fodder in the same way
ever
>since, of course). I looked up what Marx might have had to say
about

In the french governement's mind, there is nothing that worth more
than the "noble (?) ideal" of the pre-bolshevik imperialist
republic, so why would they bother about some peasants who
couldn't bear to be levelled down and standardized, and were
reluctant to learn a foreign language (french) instead of theirs ?
Marx who contributed grandly with his ideas to level down so many
cultures may have adopted the same point of view as the
governement.

Stranged enough, in the Tri Yann partitions I have, there is no
credit for the "trad." origin of this song (unlike other tunes).
The only name mentionned is Bernard Baudrillier. But since you
mentionned it, I doubt it's Tri Yann who composed it.

An other tune with the same topic is "Pelot d'Hennebont", another
An Dro too.

"Histoire d'un Breton contraint de combattre dans l'arme
Franaise sans rien comprendre aux choses de la guerre. Originaire
de Betton, village situ au nord de Rennes, cette chanson est
transpose en an-dro. Album "Suite gallaise" Texte :
(traditionnel) Musique : (Tri Yann)"

It's about a breton forced to fight in the french army without
knowing at all about this war.
