I'm just catching up with the repeats/Extended Repeats thread - please forgive the following barrage of replies. Some of the things discussed touch on the (perhaps over-elaborate) extended repeats proposal Andrew Baker and I floated here a couple of years ago ...

I think the abc syntax should stick to describing the flow control. If what's printed is not what the renderer generates from the flow control specification, there should be a separate mechanism for specifying some other text.
