Some time back, someone (maybe several someones) pointed
out that notation like (^)G is not in conflict with current
abc syntax, and would be obvious to most users.
It isn't the same meaning as with other parentheses, but it
might be the best way to handle this specific case.
Maybe I should try implementing it, and see just how
difficult it really is. The main parsing problem is
distinguishing the '(' it from the start of a slur.
