Paul, Phil, Bernard, another weekend starts and I'm going to carefully read
your post to see if I can find a way of implementing them.

  Paul mentioned he would define a set of classes at this point. It would be
a good idea even if we won't implement them in an OO language. A class
diagram would help clarify the relationship among the different objects.

  Just as an example, Bernard cited a fermata over a bar, a proper class
diagram would have state this possibility (or the lack of).

  One thing that captured my attention in Phil's post (but I have to read it
more carefully) is that he would prefer to access the data structure
directly rather than having lots of access function. I thought that it would
be the other way around and that a programmer would have loved an access API
instead of accessing the data directly. Did I overlooked something?

  Hope to be able to post some meaningful update before another killing
week.
