Here's a question worth asking the people on this list: If we use the Mozilla JavaScript engine, we close the door to ever incorporating any GPL code into AbiSource products. This looks like a scary choice, since there is so much GPL code. However, we have not done an extensive study of what exactly we would be giving up. For example, we don't care in the slightest about losing the ability to leverage code from GCC. Even emacs is not probably useful. But there's a lot of code which has been placed under the GPL, and we'd like to be more informed about which tidbits of it might be useful for our efforts. What GPL code is out there which might be useful in an Open Source word processor, spreadsheet, or database? How much of that code contains really ingrained unix-centric assumptions? We're committed to a cross-platform strategy, so UNIX code is okay, but UNIX code which won't port [easily] is not okay.
