My mini-HOWTO:

        Install gmake, if you don't have it already installed.
        Unpack the 0.7.5 tarball with supporting libraries.
        Type "gmake" and wait.  

If the build fails on FreeBSD, just send me the build logs of
any problems you may have.  abi/src/config/platforms/freebsd.mk
is the source of the compiler and platform defines for
FreeBSD.  We have may reports that AbiWord builds fine on 
FreeBSD.
