Bidirectional support

I would be interested in working on implementing bi-directional 
support and support for scripted alphabets (i.e., one character, 
several context sensitive forms, e.g. Arabic). Could I have please 
some feedback about the idea. (I have got some limited experience 
in with this stuff, and some limited time to put to it).
