I get a new assert immediately upon starting abi now.

After this abi runs fine.

Which looks suspiciously like some new string code :-) Care to check it
out Tim? I'm running redhat 6.2 with Helixcode gnome 1.2 updates.

It could be my fault but I didn't get this assert before merging my latest
changes viaCVS update this morning.
