Yes, switching to FreeType as the core rendering engine of
AbiWord would has a LOT of advantages - including support for more
font types, better/nicer rendering (via anti-aliasing), a single (XP)
set of code for measuring and rendering text, etc.
However, as always, someone needs to step up to the plate ;).
