Mike doesn't use autoconf - he has this really nice set of MSVC project 
files to build AbiWord and its other required libraries, even if *they* use 
autoconf (like iconv, png, zlib, wv, etc...)

You don't need autoconf to build these things - all autoconf does is 
determine some platform and build specific values to help ease portability. 
This "ease of portability" is great if you have the GNU tools installed on 
your box. However, if you know what to properly define in, say, config.h, 
you don't need autoconf and can get away with plain-old Makefiles or VC 
project files.

So am I safe in assuming that this will become a moot point once someone 
properly creates VC project files? An alternative is possibly to download 
the CygWin package from Cygnus: http://sources.redhat.com/cygwin/
