I assume you were looking at the old bug tracker, at bugs.gnome.org.
I wouldn't worry about that, as it has been obsoleted by
bugzilla.gnome.org, which you can get an account on easily.  Then you
should be able to close bugs eaisily.  Personally, I reccomend using
the change multiple bugs at once option, as it makes life much
simpler.  

And could you post that document to the list?
