Well, libpng versions have been a source of never-ending problems.
One reason for this is that the libpng folks have an unfortunate
tendency to change the binary interface without changing the soname.
But it might help significantly if we were to change to libpng 1.0.8.
That's the version that is in RH 7.0, as well as Debian unstable.
