I've been preparing course material for a beginner's guitar course I'll be teaching
soon. In typing up a song, where you know the song but not how to play it, it's
pretty standard to type the chord letters over the sylable in the lyrics, where the
downbeat, for that chord falls. That's how I'm typing up the songs I'm using for
learning porposes. When I print the lyrics (+ chords), the chords are out of
allignment, even though they appear correctly on screen. I first thought the problem
was that I was using different font sizes, for the lyrics and chords, but, even when I
used the same font, and font size, the chords are still printed out of allignment.
They show to be perfectly alligned on-screen, but that's not how they print. As
nearly as I can surmise, Abi is internally using a different width, for a space, from
that used by my computer/printer.
My system is a Cyrix M II (32 meg RAM) running Windows 98, 2nd edition 4.10.2222A.
The printer is an Epson, Stylus, Color 640.
I tried a few lines in (argh, I hate to say it so I'll say it small) Wordpad and they
worked perfectly. This is very frustrating for me. Abi makes such an attractive
page, where the "other" software prints a stark, utilitarian page. Anyway, I like
Abi, even with all the hassles I incur in using it (like having it crash if I insert
pictures in the document).
Is there a fix for this problem? Or should I wait for the next release Thus far,
every time I've had a problem, I went to the Abiword site, and downloaded the latest
release. There always seemed to be another release waiting, and it always seemed to
fix my problem, but this time, I'm using Abi 7.12 and that, as far as I know, is the
latest.
