Well, it's been a year since the following status pages were introduced. http://www.abisource.com/feature_matrix.html http://www.abisource.com/ui_matrix.html At the time, I thought that they could be really useful for folks on this list because it'd give everyone a shared sense of which things need attention. Here are four scenarios for how this can work, depending on who you are: 1. impexp maintainer for a single file format ---------------------------------------------- Make your column in the feature matrix green. 2. platform expert ------------------- Help make your column in the ui matrix greener. If you're feeling ambitious, pick a red row and do the necessary XP work, too. 3. core developer adding a new feature --------------------------------------- Figure out which rows need to be added. 4. where can I help without hacking? ------------------------------------- Pick a cell, column, or row that you care about. Beat on AbiWord. Tell us about anything that doesn't Just Work in that area by adding the appropriate info to Bugzilla. Summarize what you've found by sending a message to this list, proposing the relevant changes to that cell, column, or row. Repeat a week or a month later. Complain politely that nobody cares enough about your feature to finish it. bottom line ----------- With Bob gone, these documents have gone largely unmaintained, which greatly limits their usefulness. Would people in categories 1, 2, and 3 find information in this format useful? If so, then perhaps a POW to get a bunch of folks to take over category 4 would be in order. Paul
