Nope, but here's my (clueless) suggestions:

for how to do a backup of the existing database.
Then install the newest mozilla in some other directory and try to
bring it up. I must admit to not knowing if the mySQL database is
global on a box:
yes: try to access the newly installed bugzilla scripts and see if it
can make sense of the existing DB. File a test bug or two.
no: import the backup in the new tree. Then follow the above.
If anything goes wrong, blame someone else :)
