   Well, the things that immediately jumped out at me were things like:

    if( x )
    {
if( y )
    ...
else
    ...
    }

   and

    if( x
&& y
&& z
&& a )
   {

   Like I said, I haven't looked at the original source file, but I can't
imagine that that's any better.
