Well, in a safer form:
useradd rpmbuild
su -l rpmbuild
cp -a /usr/src/redhat/* .
echo %_topdir=/home/rpmbuild > ~/.rpmmacros
Now, instead of root making the RPM and of /usr/src/redhat, you have:
rpmbuild making the RPM and /home/rpmbuild
Follow the same instructions, and please, sign your rpm :)
rpm --addsign abiword-version--rel.arch.rpm
