<h2>Installing AbiWord on HP-UX / PA-RISC</h2>
<p>Welcome to the community of AbiWord users!
<p>The current version of AbiWord (0.7.14) should install and run
properly on HP-UX release 10.20 or later on PA-RISC systems. (If
you want to run abiword on an earlier HP-UX release, you will have
to compile it from the source code.)
<ol>
<li>Download the compressed depot:
<a
href="http://download.sourceforge.net/abiword/abiword-0.7.14.depot.gz">abiword-0.7.14.depot.gz</a>
<li> Uncompress the depot with <tt>gunzip</tt>.
<li> As root, run <tt>swinstall</tt>. Choose "Local Directory" as the
Source Depot Type. Enter the location of the depot file into
the Source Depot Path. Select the "AbiWord" package, and install it.
<li> You need to have xfs running: As root, edit <tt>/etc/rc.config.d/xfs</tt>
and set <tt>RUN_X_FONT_SERVER=1</tt>
<li> Restart xfs: As root, run
<tt>/sbin/init.d/xfs stop ; /sbin/init.d/xfs start</tt>

Log out of X-windows, then log back in again.
<br />
Note that this step is necessary, even if xfs was already running.
<li>Installation is complete. You shouldn't have to go through these
steps the next time you install abiword on this system.

To run AbiWord, type <tt>/usr/local/bin/abiword</tt>.
