Another big autoconf commit:
- added dependecies between the libraries, so things get rebuilt
properly.
- autodetect expat.
Also, some other stuff who's commits didn't get emails-
- fixed some bugs with png generation in the makefiles
- removed a number of obvious stupidites. :-)
