I have AbiWord 0.7.14 installed on RedHat 6.2, Helix Gnome 1.0 with
updates applied (but haven't upgraded to 1.4 yet).

It works great on the local X server. However, when running it on
another X server on the local network, it complains about fonts not
found. Apparently, the wrapper shell script does not dynamically add
the fonts to the correct X server when the server is remote.

Why is this important? We have 3 school age kids who need to do simple
word processing (go AbiWord!). We can't afford 3 full computers, so we
run Linux with attached X terminals. The X terminals are created from
discarded 486 PCs with 512M disks - all free. Try that with M$. (It
can be done - for a *lot* of money.)

If will post a followup if I can figure out how to fix the wrapper
script.
