Your patch looks fine, but I get this ASSERT since:

**** (1) Continue ? (y/n) [y] :
This is because option_menu_set_by_key() returns -1.
I don't know exactly why, since I'm not really familiar with this, but it
should be fixed before we can apply the patchs.
