Microsoft Word (.doc) format

I used to be able to save in .doc format in 0.7.14. What happened, and 
is it going to be reinstituted by 1.0. I've got a professor that may 
require that I send things to her in .doc format.

Help me please, save me from being sucked back into the Microswift Vortex!
