As far as AbiWord is concerned, the two are completely separate.
The wv utilities can be compiled with support for libwmf, but the
wv library just passes the images across to AbiWord as wmf and it's up to
AbiWord to convert them. Currently (at least, the last time I looked,
which was a long time ago now) AbiWord just shrugs helplessly and ignores
them.
It may be that libwmf2 will be merged at some point with wv2, but that's a
way off yet.
