First of all, could you please give more information?  Are you on Linux or
on Windows?  If Linux, which Linux distribution?  (CLE?  Debian?  Red Hat? 
Mandrake?)  Did you installed pre-built DEB/RPM, or did you compile it
yourself?  Please be specific next time for whatever kind of questions you
ask, as otherwise, without the necessary details, we often cannot help you.

AbiWord _does_ support Big5.  However, do not try to use ttftool;
you'll have to create your own /usr/share/AbiSuite/fonts/zh-TW/fonts.dir .
This file is already created for you if you use:

        Debian GNU/Linux (pre-3.0)
        Red Hat Linux 7.3
        Thiz Linux Desktop 5.0 or 6.0
