GTK+2 will be a requirement, at least in part because we're going to use Pango for sophisticated i18n/l01n and Pango doesn't play well with GTK+-1.2 or GDK-1.2. Some benefits of GTK+2.0: Great accessibility support: Blind/deaf/disabled people are well supported Tremendous i18n and l01n support Lots of new & improved widgets Backing store/double-buffering used to draw widgets, so no flickering "Stock" menu and button items These things alone are well worth the switch over. GTK+2.0 plays nicely with 1.2 - I have both installed on my development box and many other people do too. Dom
