Hi, as you may already know the Linux Information Systems AG, Germany is doing a study on office document formats. The currenty (work in progress) version of the paper is available from http://www.buug.de/bsi-studie/ Please use the following credentials: Username: Reader Password: m42tSO+mb This text is currently in German and we do unfortunately lack the ressources to translate everything into English. Maybe this effort can be done after the study is finished. A bzip2 version of the pdf document is also available. The importance of the study lies partially in the fact that the study is done for the German government and might have an impact in the European Union in the near future. - - In the preliminary paper there is an extensive study on the existing document formats in chapter two. Maybe someone from Abiword or current filter maintainers does want to comment? - - One possible result of the study could be to conclude that a common file standard is needed. The discussion about this currently takes place on [EMAIL PROTECTED] Please note that this effort is in no way limited to OO but has strong support also from KOffice people and others. - - I want to invite Abiword developers in the discussion. You may either choose to discuss on [EMAIL PROTECTED] or on [EMAIL PROTECTED] Yours, - --martin Dipl.-Phys.
