Hi all and 10x for the great work! I am the bulgarian translator of AbiWord. I don't have enough knowledge in C to trace this problem by myself, but here it is: the bulgarian translation of AbiWord is practically unusable. In fact Abi is unusable for bulgarians. I can't add cyrillic fonts (Debian testing; the standart for encoding here is cp1251). I have seen shots of Abi on Linux (RH, afaict..) running with cp1251 fonts, but I couldn't achieve this on my Deb, even building version from the cvs.. Note to the Debian maintainer (I remember him posting in the list...) - None of the Debian users here did manage to "bulgarize" Abi, maybe the problem is in Defoma (it never accepts registration o cp1251 font for abiword)...
Shortly: 1) The bulgarian strings file says encoding is cp1251, but I see no symbols in the menu... When I change it to Latin-1, they appear, and they are correct :-O The cyrillic is coded as Latin-1 (iso-8859-1) - maybe this is a problem in the code... 2) Adding cp1251 fonts is really a pain in the ass (/me never did manage anyway..) and noone here really makes it - they use other wordprocessors, and that's a shame; many people love Abi, 'cos it's light and still has a lot of features and in the meantime they dont use it!!! Uncluding me - I rarely need to edit a file in language, diferent from bulgarian. It'll be nice if someone tries to localize Abi for bulgarian and gives some feedback (here or in personal letter) HOW he did it. 1) You need to see the menus in cyrillic 2) You need to be able to add cyrillic fonts (cp1251) and see and write cyrillic text.
