It's not unusable (I'm using it), but it isn't a pleasant experience.

This is the problem with clicking and dragging to select a block of
text, yes?

I will also note that if you delete, the cursor gets ahead of the
delete, and if you are a fast typer it is possible to type a character
at that position before the 'deleted' character is actually removed. I
filed a bug for this, but I've not got round to uprating it from
cosmetic.
