I'm usually happy to help (unlike fjf's "always happy to help" ;-), and since I've written the plugin architecture and most of the plugins, feel free to ask me any questions you might have. FJF did a bang-up job on the plugin build system, and is the de-facto source of information on that. They have to be built with the same build options (--enable-debug for one, you have to --enable-debug for the other). Any mismatches and you'll get undefined symbol errors like the above.
