abiword/linuxppc spell check problem

has anyone got spelling working under linuxppc? i've tried several rpms
and the latest tar from abisource as well as several different
american.hash dictionaries and still every word is still marked as
misspelled. i posted on this several weeks ago and still haven't heard
anything. anyone know what the status of this is?
